Jean is an internationally acclaimed speaker, trainer and coach. Her mission is to create a safe space for people to get real: to speak and hear what is true. She has been creating that space ever since her early days as a teacher, then as a coach and, more recently, as a public speaker. Helping people bring change to their lives gives Jean much joy and satisfaction. She also is humbled by the fact that she gets to do what she absolutely loves every day, as she enables people to see and hear the abundance of their lives.
The first “aha” moment for Jean in regards to public speaking was just after a meeting with a one-to-one client where the coaching flowed with wonderful ease and value. At the end of the conversation, the woman thanked Jean effusively, as she had gained such insight, felt so acknowledged and encouraged, and had been given the tools to move forward. On Jean’s way home, it occurred to her that there was much need for what she was able to do one-on one, but only one Jean! She was moved to create a plan of action to share her knowledge and insight with many people at once through public speaking.
Recently, a roomful of professional people were so moved by the passion, authority and sincerity with which Jean spoke, they all literally jumped to their feet with resounding applause as she was leaving the podium. This was one acknowledgement of many that confirmed Jean was on the right path.
Jean’s outstanding quality is her ability to hold the heart of everyone in the room as she speaks. She is the mirror to her audience’s brilliance, wholeness and capabilities. She is smart, refreshing, provocative, realist and practical, with an innate sense of gentle humour.
The future is bright for Jean: there is traveling, speaking, exploring, learning and being with people in ways that empower them to think and communicate in a more conscious manner. She has a deep-rooted desire to help the world and make a meaningful contribution. There is a new book in the works. Her husband, her children and grandchildren keep her young and her heart full.
Quote: If A equals success, then the formula is A = X + Y + Z. X is work. Y is play. Z is keep your mouth shut. -- Albert Einstein

The Power of One Person Truly Listening
When do we give ourselves permission to be ourselves if we don’t stop and give others permission? Today, information is being shared, people are communicating 24/7, and yet 75% of the time, we are distracted and not truly listening. Conversations never get to that truly deep place of connection; they remain the ripples on the surface of the water. Yet the call of every human heart is still the same: Listen to Me!
Salespersons, consultants, and everyone in any kind of relationship love this presentation. Jean gives the audience the tools to stop, to truly see and hear. She encourages the audience to open up to what benefits are possible when listening happens, and to go forth and affect positive change, both in their lives and in the lives of others.

Article for Parkinsons Society
For those who have Parkinson’s disease, one of the largest difficulties they face is that each person goes through the disease with different symptoms, and differing degrees of severity. For some, they stay relatively the same for a long period of time, and for others their symptoms seem to change like the wind. Rigidity becomes the biggest delimiting factor over time. Various therapies can aid in reducing or allaying the effects of the disease.
The key to dealing with any sort of therapeutic services for these situations is flexibility. Jill Burk of Health Span has spent years ministering to people afflicted with degenerative diseases by providing a comprehensive group of complementary health services that aid in emotional, spiritual and physical well being. Jill’s vision in creating Health Span Inc. was to offer people a company that is dedicated to bringing first-class wellness, health, mobility and quality of life to the elderly and ill, regardless of their location. Health Span provides a wide range of services such as massage therapy, exercise therapy, structural alignment, reiki, acupressure and therapeutic touch as well as many aesthetic services such as manicures, pedicures and facials.
Since its inception, Jill has worked diligently to create a team of therapists to address a broad range of individual needs. Currently, Health Span has a team comprised of 7 massage therapists, 3 companions, 3 aestheticians, and three kinesiologists. The four main themes that Health Span addresses are:
1/ to provide a central point from which to orchestrate health services designed to be flexible over time to address the changing needs of people afflicted with diseases where symptoms change thereby requiring the treatment to react accordingly.
2/ to provide a relationship where Health Span therapists do not just become involved with the client; they work in tandem with the family to update them on any situations and/or conditions they are treating and inform them of any that arise. We are the eyes and ears of the family when they are not around. Where distance limits a family’s ability to have the close contact they would like, they can at least be reassured that their loved one is receiving caring quality services.
3/ to provide pain relief and enhance the daily lives of those who suffer relentlessly from chronic and terminal illnesses in their home, hospital or care facility. The benefit of having the therapies provided where the person lives is undeniable: it reduces stress on everyone involved, and optimizes the effects of the treatment.
4/ to provide services that perhaps are not considered “therapeutic” such as manicures, pedicures, facials and others. The benefits to someone who has become housebound, or “roombound” are immense. The feeling of being pampered and having someone take some time to make them feel special is priceless. Sometimes it is the small things that add so much to the quality of life.
Health Span aims to prevent, heal and manage the injuries and limitations that reduce the quality of life of those affected by Parkinson’s. We cannot prevent the progression of the disease altogether. Health Span provides the potential to alleviate or manage pain and increase quality of life and potential longevity with its one-on-one personalized care.
Having Parkinson’s is not a choice, how one lives with it is. Allow those afflicted to live life to its fullest, call Health Span Inc.
